Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) can be a really informative test to assess your underlying core body functions. Unlike blood tests which typically indicate a 'snap shot' in time, hair testing displays a 3 month average of how your health has been functioning. Often if you're someone who feels like you have persistent issues, ranging from poor immune function, fatigue, acne, reflux, hormonal imbalances and more... But your blood tests are 'normal' this test could help you undercover the driving force behind your symptoms.

Approximately 3-4 weeks from the date the lab receives your sample. Once your results are ready, we will send them through to you via email.

We recommend sending your sample to the lab via registered post to ensure you can track its arrival. If all of the hair has been chemically treated, wait until sufficient new virgin growth has emerged to allow collection. Ideally 3 cms. (Why not select small sections of hair at the back of the head that are hidden from view and skip doing the re-growth dye for a couple of months!)

Your hair should be free of all gels, oils, and hair creams before collecting the sample. For individuals who may be environmentally or occupationally exposed to external contaminants (such as welding, mining, etc.), extra care should be taken to minimise exposure between washing your hair and collecting the sample.

Wash and rinse your hair thoroughly and collect once dry.

The hair sample should come from freshly washed hair using regular shampoo (not medicated, like anti-dandruff), thoroughly rinsed, and untreated—meaning not permed, dyed, or bleached. If all of your hair has been chemically treated, wait until there’s enough new growth to collect a sample. (Consider choosing small sections of hair at the back of your head and skip dyeing those areas for a few months!) Make sure your hair is free from gels, oils, and creams before collecting the sample. If you're regularly exposed to environmental contaminants (like in welding or mining), try to avoid exposure after washing your hair and before collecting the sample.

Scalp hair is the only source recommended for analysis. Pubic and other body hair should only be used as a last resort if scalp hair is not available. Note: Pubic and other body hair is only recommended for confirmation of elevated toxic metals found in the scalp hair and/or to rule out external contamination of the scalp hair. 

If you do use pubic hair, rinse thoroughly as often soap residue skews the results

Each collected sample should be taken in small portions from at least four to five different locations of the scalp. The recommended areas for collection are the nape of the neck, posterior vertex and posterior temporal regions. Note: All reference range correlations, dietary recommendations and interpretive report content assumes that the complete hair specimen originated solely from the above defined regions of the scalp.

High-grade stainless steel scissors or thinning shears should be used to cut the hair as close to the scalp as possible. The length of the collected hair should not exceed one and one-half inches. The proximal portion (one and one-half inches closest to the root) should be retained and the excess discarded.

Note: The hair closest to the scalp is reflective of the most recent metabolic activity. ie. 1cm closest to the scalp is the most recent months feedback from the body.

The weight requested for a hair specimen is 125 milligrams (0.125 Gram). Use of the TEI Hair Weight Scale Cards will ensure the collection of sufficient sample weight. However, if a Hair Weight Scale is not available, enough hair to cover the face of a 20 cent piece or a dime is usually sufficient.

Each sample specimen must be accompanied by a standard HTMA Laboratory Submittal Form, completed in its entirety. This form can be completed in your online profile and will be sent out to you in your order confirmation email.

We recommend you do a follow up hair sample test 3 months after you have implemented the recommended changes to your fundamentals and supplements.

As long as you can provide a total weight of 125 mg (approximately one teaspoon), multiple small snips from various scalp areas will suffice.

Retesting every three months is recommended to track progress, assess improvements, and adjust supplements or lifestyle changes accordingly.

This isn't something to continue forever. 

Once you have re-checked the second time and are noticing that your body signals are changing for the better, consistently re-testing isn't necessary. 

We recommend once every year for monitoring, proving your health is stable. 

Yes the test is available for all people. The only requirement is sufficient amounts of hair. 

Yes, please stop taking any previously recommended supplements while you’re on this new regimen. This can create double ups and unnecessary dosages. However, continue any prescriptions provided by your doctor, if applicable. If you're unsure you can book in for a HTMA review appointment with one of our trained health coaches.

We suggest ordering a one-month supply to start. If you notice improvements, you can then order two additional months. After completing three months of supplementation, along with lifestyle changes guided by your Female Fundamentals™, we recommend a retest.

The supplements are fine for travel and don’t require refrigeration. Storing them in a cool, air-conditioned room is sufficient.

While our supplements are generally safe, we recommend consulting with your doctor or healthcare provider before combining them with any prescription medications.

You’ll begin to notice subtle improvements in your energy, mood, and overall health within a few weeks. Some people notice them instantly. Every person has different factors at play. These changes can indicate your supplements are addressing imbalances. Re-testing after three months provides clarity on your progress.

If you notice no changes after 1 month of supplementing, than cease the supplements. If notice there was indeed a shift, start them again. If no benefit, it's your body telling you something else is possibly the main contributor to your symptoms.

Missing an occasional dose won’t disrupt your progress. Simply resume your supplementation as directed.
